Dan McCormick

Co-Founder, CEO

Dan, a seasoned entrepreneur, brings nearly 20 years of management experience with a proven track record in the computer storage and IT market. Prior to co-founding Atrato, he spent nearly six years bringing storage startup XIOtech from pre-product launch through acquisition by Seagate Technology. Dan’s career also includes key positions with GE Capital IT Solutions and national PC integrator, PC Express.

Jonathan Hall

Co-Founder, Business Development

Jonathan possesses a breadth of engineering, marketing and operational talents that span 20 years, co-authoring Atrato’s foundational patents and designing the initial disc enclosure. He spent more than three years with XIOtech leading their market research team, customer advisory board and executive briefing center. Hall also spent 16 years at Seagate Technology and Control Data in design engineering, product management and market research. He is the author of multiple patents for disk drive technology.

Steve Visconti

EVP, Sales and Marketing

Steve manages sales and marketing at Atrato and is responsible for developing and implementing plans and schedules to establish and build successful relationships with customers. He brings worldwide sales and marketing experience with a number of top high-technology companies including Cisco Systems, Inc., Airespace, Ascend, Chipcom, and Banyan Systems. His 25 years of worldwide sales and marketing management experience, industry background, and market awareness together with his diverse skills and experiences in sales, sales management and general management contribute to his outstanding performance record.

Perry Nelson

Chief Operating Officer

Perry manages Atrato engineering and operations departments and is responsible for coordinating product development, production plans and schedules. He has 20 years of experience in software development and IT management primarily in telecommunications and online financial services. Previously, he was VP of Operations and Technology for New Global Telecom, responsible for technology strategies and their design, development and application. Perry was also VP of Product Engineering for Avolent/Solant and a Senior Principal at American Management Systems.

Tom Ruwart

Chief Scientist HPC Solutions

Tom leads our HPC offerings and provides leadership to our overall technology vision. With over 30 years of experience in the computer and storage industry, his knowledge spans architecture, design, and implementation of hardware and software. He is also involved in everything from individual disk drives to peta-scale supercomputer-class storage systems consisting of hundreds of thousands of disk drives and other storage devices. Tom has held various roles with the Minnesota Supercomputer Center, the University of Minnesota Laboratory for Computational Science and Engineering, Ciprico, and founded the University of Minnesota Digital Technology Center’s Intelligent Storage Consortium.

Sam Siewert, Ph.D

Principal Software Architect

Sam leads Atrato’s software architecture and implementation strategy while working closely with the principal hardware architect. He currently teaches a Real-Time Embedded Systems Program at the University of Colorado and is a well-respected, published author on the topic. His experience includes a lead role with Emulex Corp. developing firmware, architecture models, and performance tools in joint development with Intel. He also has several patents and inventions related to ASIC debug and CPU scheduling, and helped devise the operations system for a Space Shuttle Hitchhiker Payload that flew in August 1997.

Karl Whiting

Principal Hardware Architect

Karl leads Atrato’s hardware development effort while working closely with our principal software architect. He brings nearly 20 years of computer architecture experience to Atrato. He began his career on design teams developing cutting edge computer systems, starting at Convex Computer. As an entrepreneur, Karl co-founded Idealogy, Inc. and then served as the President, Principal Engineer and Engineering Manager where he was dedicated to helping companies, such as Cisco and Nortel, with their ASIC developments until it was acquired by Cadence Design Systems, Inc.

Tom Wendt

Office of the CTO, Atrato Advisor

Tom helps Atrato define new product requirements and distinguish the company from the competition by staying abreast of the latest market trends and cutting edge technology. He brings a wealth of experience in video-on-demand, entertainment and media, fiber-to-the-home, production studio and advertising experience. His previous positions include Founder and CEO of Optical Entertainment Networks and three former CTO positions in video and enterprise with Oracle, Sybase and Informix database companies.
